Tired of seeing so much packaging waste accumulate? Frustrated with all those electrical cords, phone chargers that no longer work or are outdated? This is exactly why your teacher, Trudi Nisbet , started using waste material in her baskets. Trudi regularly exhibits her pieces and is a two times selected finalist in the Hornsby and Northern Beaches Environmental Art Prizes.
In this workshop Trudi will share which waste materials are suitable to use to create beautiful and functional coiled baskets.
Many people are drawn to the visual aesthetics and practical uses of basketry. In this workshop you will not only learn how to make a beautiful basket but discover the joy basketry brings and how it can be used to achieve a sense of calmness and purposefulness and of course a sense of fulfilment knowing you are reducing waste that would usually end up in landfill.
Participants will learn the basics of coiled basketry, including - how to start , form and finish a basket with waste materials. Trudi will guide you through each step in a relaxed and friendly environment so that each person will be confident in the process of making a basket.
These fundamentals will set you on the path for a wonderful basketry journey.
Suitable for the beginner and more experienced .
All materials are included , but you are welcome to bring along your own waste material as well. Morning tea is included.
